Skin: Microneedling Pre and Post Care and what to expect:

What is recommended to prepare your skin for your microneedling appointment???

It is highly recommended that you prepare you skin for your microneedling procedure by getting your skin clean, healthy and safely exfoliated. We need to prepare the skin for this treatment on a cellular level. This simply means that if you have done the proper, professional and at home exfoliation for your skin type, YOU WILL achieve a 50—100% more effective microneedling session. You put in what you expect to get out. When you execute the proper at home exfoliation prep, you allow vibrant new skin cells to be revealed at the skin’s surface (the stratum corneum) as well as a thicker, more firm dermis below. This means more collagen development which will lead to less wrinkles, more even complexion, texture improvement, and a lessened appearance of pores. Who doesn’t want that?

The exclusive skin care line of L-T Wellness, Naturopathica at has incredible active skin care exfoliants that can get you there with ease. Some highly rated products include: Holy Basil and Retinol Ageless Night Oil, Argan & Retinol Advanced Wrinkle Remedy Night Gel Cream and Passion flower and Retinol Advanced Wrinkle Repair Eye Serum for evening exfoliation and proliferation of dead skin cells. For the daytime, incorporating Naturopathica’s N. Poeticus and French Algae Brightening Essence as well as Queen 7-in-1 serum, will enhance your skin’s inner glow and work hard on diminishing stubborn dark spots. Not sure how to use it with what you already have? Just ask and we can insert these products and others to find a perfect fit to integrate these products into your at home regimen in order to obtain your specific skin care goals

What to expect when you arrive for your procedure and during:

You will receive an initial double cleansing of the face to remove dirt and impurities in preparation for your lidocaine application. The lidocaine will set for 30 minutes while the skin is wrapped in saran wrap to activate the lidocaine. At this time you are free to meditate, ask me questions, tell me your deepest secrets :), check your phone or take a little nap. Then the lidocaine will be removed and alcohol will be applied to remove the residual excess lidocaine and prep the skin for the procedure. The medical microneedling usually takes up to 20 minutes and is followed by 10 minutes of LED Therapy add on directly after. What we are getting the skin to do is use its own immune system to be triggered by the micro-channels we are creating in the skin. When this happens, the dermal layer is called in the action to create more collagen thus producing a thicker dermis which means less wrinkles and firmer skin for you! It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you receive 8 session spaced 4 weeks apart. Although not required, booking these appointments out can keep your committed and on track for success!

What to expect post procedure:

Directly after the procedure you will most likely experience redness from rash-like/ sun burned looking, pinpoint red dots from the open channels, areas that seem more red than others, tightness, flaking and slight peeling. (the look of a strong sunburn can last for at least a day to a couple of days.

The Healing Process and how it progresses:

For 5 days (the inflammatory phase) after the procedure the only thing that you should put on your skin in Hyaluronic acid. After 5 days post procedure, (Days 6-14: the fibroplastic phase) , you can begin using Naturopathica’ s soothing and balancing mists and non-active (no exfoliants) facial oils to regulate the skin’s ph, rehydrate and calm the senses. Then, by days 15-28 (the maturative phase) topicals containing performance ingredients or anything that would be considered active or exfoliating (AHA/BHA, Vitamin C, Retinoids, Scrubs) can now be incorporated. By day 28, you can safely get microneedling again. Note: At day 14 (2 weeks between), you can safely get lesser invasive facial treatments by L-T Wellness, and this will deliver faster and more noticeable results and perfectly prep for skin for your next microneedling session. As always drinks tons of water to quench your skin’s thirst and cool things down. Do not use Clarisonic or powered devices for at least ONE week after your procedure.

Pro Tip:

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN TO PROTECT YOUR HEALING SKIN! It’s up to you to make sure that after your procedure you make it your duty to keep your face in a sterile environment. That means washing hands and also using hand sanitizer after handling items to prevent cross contamination and to ensure that your skin stays healthy and happy as it heals and gets you one step closer to bright and beautiful skin! DO NOT TOUCH or PICK AT YOUR FACE or try to encourage the skin to peel off faster. Trust the process and follow the protocols.

Avoid Hot Showers!!! Not only are hot showers SUPER DEHYDRATING for the skin at any given time, but the heat is not your skin’s friend (Hot and Spicy) during to recovery process and your TCA peel so try to keep the warm steam showers to a minimum.

😃It’s as simple as that! Waxing with L-T wEllness is safe, quick, discreet and so easy!!!
